When The Mud Came is a relaxed, satisfying “dad game” about power-washing a world buried under mud after a strange apocalyptic event.

A mysterious mud volcano has coated towns, roads, and buildings in thick sludge. With most people gone, you grab an old power washer, hit the road, and start cleaning — not in a rush, but at your own pace.

The core loop is simple and incremental: clean surfaces, earn money, upgrade your gear, and unlock new abilities. As you make progress, the world visibly changes around you. Dust storms clear, sunlight breaks through, and greenery slowly returns as each area is fully cleaned.

This is a low-pressure experience designed to be played casually. Put on some music, half-watch a TV show, and enjoy the steady satisfaction of progress and visible change.

Current State & Feedback

This is an early prototype / alpha demo.

The core gameplay systems are in place and playable, but there’s still plenty of room for polish and expansion. You may run into bugs, rough edges, or unfinished elements — that’s all part of the process at this stage.

There are big plans for When The Mud Came, including larger locations, more equipment and upgrades, deeper story elements, and additional systems over time. This demo is the foundation those ideas will be built on.

If you give it a try, I’d genuinely love to hear your feedback. Comments, suggestions, and bug reports are all welcome and help shape where the project goes next.

Want to Know More?

If you’re interested in the background behind the game — where the idea came from, how it’s being built, and where it’s heading — I’ve written a blog post that goes into more detail.

You can read it here: https://www.brazenbraden.com/whenthemudcame/2026/01/16/when_the_mud_came

I’ll also be posting updates there as development continues.

Really fun game. Completed everything except the second secret. Couldn't figure out what it could be.

I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

Don't want to drop any spoilers here, so if you want to know where the other secret is, you can DM me on X
